1. Download the ISO Image
- Visit the official website of the Linux distribution. For example, Linux Mint here, or Ubuntu here, or another one of your choice.
- Download the system image: linux.iso
2. Create a Bootable Linux USB (from Windows)
Use the program Rufus:
- Download it from https://rufus.ie
- Plug in your USB drive and launch Rufus
- Set it up as follows:
- Device: select your USB drive
- Boot selection: select the downloaded ISO file
- Partition scheme: GPT (for newer PCs with Windows 10 or 11 and UEFI, roughly since 2012) or MBR (for older Windows 7, Vista, XP with UEFI-CSM or BIOS)
- File system: FAT32
- Click START and confirm to erase the USB drive
*Warning: The USB drive will be completely erased!
